I am having a similar problem with printing on Vista, however, my situation is that all computers in my home run Windows xp and I only have the new one in the kitchen running Windows Vista. The only way I seem to be able to get something to print from Vista is to have the printer directly attached. I have an HP 4m being shared from a Windows XP computer, all other computers can easily use it with the exception of the Vista.

I also have an Epson color printer that we have been shifting to and from the Vista computer because the only way to get it to print is if it is directly attached. The vista computer sees all other shared areas and printers but for some reason error out when I try to print to them. I am seeing a problem similar to this with an epson printer. I am running Vista home premium on both computers. The printer is plugged into the PC, which is plugged into the wireless router.

I showed that page to the Support Rep who brought me the problem after he tried several other troubleshooting steps to get the redirected printer to work. After showing him that, I suggested we try another driver such as the LJ 4 or 6L. So, I don't know if my suggestion would have helped the user since she didn't stick through all the troubleshooting.

I hope this helps. Thanks, Alicia. We use Server with XP workstations and all of our printers stopped working today. At times I can print from the print server but no other clients. Then I can not even print from the server at other times.

What is going on? Same problem here. Yeah, sure. I was having your exact same problem and I found this solution on some small wi-fi forum so now I'm posting everywhere that I can.

Be careful with this names. Check in your XP PC "Control Panel" - "Printers and faxes" - "your printer" - right click - "share" - "share resources name" - Choose the manufacturer and printer model of the printer you are adding.

Hope it helps until MS fixes it! Thanks a million, your solution solved my problems.
